Tuesday, February 08, 2005 realized the attire in UK are mostly black or grey. As I stood in the tube, realized the whole stretch of train is full of people clothed in total black and grey outfits. Noone is talking, noone is bothering about any other person, everyone is so immersed it his/her own world that everyoned chosed to ignore other's presence. This makes the atmosphere even gloomier. I realized people don't greet each other in London, or perhaps in most of the big cities in the world. I longed so much for the warmth and friendliness found in small area, where strangers greet strangers cheerfully, or at least, smile at each other. I have to say a lot of my friends actually feel comfortable with this kind of atmosphere. And I seemed like the odd one out. Is it that I have not grown up? or my mindset is still constrained in the boundaries of a village life? I wondered. It struck me that if people cannot bother to care about the people around us, how would we expect we can create love for the world? What is the meaning of the volunteer activities? Do people still volunteer because they want to help? or they just want a beautiful record on their CV? What is the use of debating and talking about world peace? I shall stop thinking. Applying for a youth program in this summer. hopefully I have an answer at that time. or i shall raise these questions. posted at 12:02
